FC Wisconsin Eclipse Teams Make Progress in St. Louis ECNL Games

On December 2nd and 3rd, the FC Wisconsin Eclipse U15-U18 teams traveled to "The Soccer Park" - home of historic club St. Louis Scott Gallagher for 2 important Midwest Conference ECNL matches.  On Saturday, the teams played St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Metro (IL), before finishing the weekend against host St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Missouri.

Against SLSG-Metro, the U15 team won 1-0, with a stoppage time corner kick goal from Megan Stoffel.  The result was an improvement from the 0-0 tie on November 18.  The U16 team won 2-1, with goals from Allison Jacobson (penalty) and Kenzie Challoner.  The result was an improvement from the 1-2 loss on November 18.  The U17 team tied 0-0 in a tight match, while the U18s lost 0-1 in a game that could have gone either way.

On Sunday, against SLSG-MO, the results were more difficult - with the U15 team earning a 1-1 tie (goal from Jen Wendling), and all other teams dropping identical 0-2 results.

"We saw tremendous improvement this weekend from the games only 2 weeks prior," said Andy Lee.  "Part of that is ongoing improvement from the players due to hard work in training everyday, but part is also due to a little more confidence and determination than the teams showed previously."

"We came through a very difficult 5-week stretch against some of the best teams in the country in November," said Monica White.  "Each week, the players got better and learned more about what it takes to be successful in the ECNL.  The improvement in results this weekend is partially due to the difficulty of that stretch and the lessons that come from it."

The FC Wisconsin Eclipse teams have the upcoming weekend off from competition before playing their last Midwest Conference games of 2012 in Minneapolis on December 15-16.
