U14 Regional Competitive Program Shines in Racine

The FC Wisconsin U14 Regional Competitive program had a great weekend in Racine, connecting strings of passes, building through the thirds, and bagging some great goals on their way to a championship.

With the challenge of moving from training on a fast, turf field to playing on bumpy and thick grass, the players stayed focused on executing their style of play admirably.

Kaeley Kroenke played as a target forward and held the ball up well in the build-up all weekend, allowing wide players Calla Laabs and Emily Fix to get behind the opponents.  Laabs and Fix were a constant presence making runs behind the defense, and keeping the field big with smart, wide positioning.  Together, the 3 scored multiple goals each and were consistently dangerous.

In defensive midfield, Ashley Jones did a fantastic job of switching the field to find new space and open players, and then finding penetrating diagonal balls when the defense opened up.  After a rocky start on Saturday morning, Reagan Romano and Fabi Lyons developed a great relationship in defense, communicating well and organizing the team in front of them.

"I was really pleased to see the girls play the way they did, and to also show the fight necessary to win individual physical battles," said coach Joana Bielefeld.  "They should be proud of the way they connected, the possession they showed, and importantly the determination to turn possession into chances and goals."

Congrats to all the girls on a great weekend, and for executing your style of play and game model so well!
