In a celebration of soccer and the World Cup, on Thursday July 10th, Lakeview’s Specialty Hospital & Rehab’s Child & Adolescent Complex Care Program participated in a soccer event coordinated and led by players from FC Wisconsin Eclipse Soccer Club.

Lakeview is located in Waterford, WI and excels in meeting the emotional and social needs of children and adolescents with medical, physical and cognitive challenges compounded by behavioral issues. Lakeview’s multi-disciplinary program integrates medical management, behavioral and emotional health, social, family, and leisure skill building, education, and a structured therapeutic milieu providing a philosophy of positive limit setting.

The team began with a group warmup guiding the residents and staff through stretching and flexibility exercises. Residents and staff divided into 3 groups and rotated through three training stations working with the soccer team to sharpen their individual skills. The training focused on passing, dribbling, juggling, and shooting. Skills training was followed by a team scrimmage followed by the highlight of the event: a scrimmage between a combined team of residents and FC WI Eclipse players against the Lakeview program staff! Upon completion of the game, the FC WI Eclipse players presented the residents with individual soccer medals.

“Lakeview would like to send a sincere thank you to  the team for spending time with our residents and providing a positive impact on their community”.

"I have been really fortunate with the experiences and opportunities that soccer has provided for me, and it was great to be able to give something back to the community through the game that has given me so much," said U17 FC Wisconsin Eclipse player Steph Fabry.  "I had a lot of fun working with the staff and residents - thank you Lakeview for this opportunity."

"It was a lot of fun to show the residents the game that I love playing and what I get to do everyday," said U17 FC Wisconsin Eclipse player Christina Feller.  "Seeing someone smile when they scored or did something well in the activities was a great feeling.  Thank you to Lakeview for the opportunity to share my sport with their community."
