As part of the long-term athletic development curriculum at FC Wisconsin Eclipse, the pre-season includes a focus on improving and enhancing agility, balance and coordination (the "ABCs") through a variety of training exercises.  These exercises are done early in the session, when fatigue does not impact movement, so that players can focus on improving bio-mechanical efficiency.  The videos below show some of the most basic ABC sessions.  Over time, these activities expand to include movement with a ball, and even some basic tactical movement focused on footwork and body positioning.

Basic Agility Ladder Training (Agility, Balance and Footspeed Focus)

Basic Hurdle and Coaching Stick Training (Footspeed, Balance, and Change of Direction)

To be a great soccer player, you must master "the ABCs" of athletic development.  A developmentally focused club understands that and includes this component in their training progession.  Look for future articles with a glimpse of how the FC Wisconsin Eclipse pre-season continues the constant emphasis on individual technical development!
